We are so excited to introduce Mrs. Benedict as our English Language Learners paraprofessional!
A native of LaFayette, Mrs. Benedict lived with her family in Alabaster for over twenty years before returning to LaFayette in 2020. Mrs. Benedict is a graduate of Auburn University, Columbia International University and The University of Alabama at Birmingham. She attained a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, a Master's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language accordingly.
Her teaching experience includes four years teaching fourth grade and eleven teaching third grade along with tutoring, substitute teaching in Shelby County and teaching English online to students in China. She is currently an English instructor with the ESL program at Southern Union State Community College on the Valley campus.
Mrs. Benedict is married to Carl Benedict who serves as the pastor at Fairview Baptist and drives a school bus for Chambers County.
They have three adult children Cara, Colson and Chloe.
Mrs. Benedict is excited to work with our English Language Learners and to assist our teachers in their day to day classroom instruction.
She enjoys growing flowers on her family farm, teaching English, spending time with family and friends, and walking.
Mrs. Benedict's roots in Shawmut run deep. Her grandmother was raised on double drive and her mother grew up there too. They loved Shawmut so much!
Welcome to our Shawmut Tribe, Mrs. Benedict!
